Great Starts provides a holistic array of services to drug-addicted, pregnant and/or postpartum women, and/or HIV women and their children. These women and their children may live in a safe, drug-free environment in the apartments for up to six months. Supportive, educational, and therapeutic/intensive outpatient services are offered daily. The therapeutic nursery provides day care and early intervention services for drug-exposed, medically fragile, and developmentally delayed children up to 48 months of age. Community children who meet the above mentioned criteria are also eligible for these services. Once treatment is completed, comprehensive follow-up services are provided through Greater Starts. Families First clients, deemed eligible by the State of Tennessee Department of Human Services, are provided in-home visitation, child and family therapeutic services, group therapy, and crisis intervention services to support healthy families. Objective is to enable drug-exposed and/or HIV children by providing early intervention and child therapeutic services. |

Women who are 18 years of age or older. Women who are eligible for TennCare services. Women who reside in the residential apartments may have three children up to the age of 10 reside with them. Women who have lost custody of their children but are seeking reunification. Residents are required to follow program rules, attend in-program classes, and group sessions.
This therapeutic residential cooperative serves the needs of substance-abusing and/or HIV and pregnant or post-partum women who are single heads of households. Referrals may be made by any community agency or individual. |
