Description: The DDRN offers assistance in three ways: Advocacy, Self Help, Information and Referral. Information and Referral: Offers a statewide directory of dual recovery programs, advocacy organizations, self-help support groups and service providers. Maintains a library of articles, books, video tapes and on-line services focusing on the dual recovery needs of adolescents, adults, older adults, and family members. Advocacy: Participate with community based mental health, chemical dependency, and consumer and family advocacy organizations. Offer in-service and workshop presentations to help increase public awareness and to reduce stigma that is associated with dual disorders. Offer a speakers bureau of individuals with experience and expertise in the area of dual disorders. Develops a state-wide advocacy organization. Self Help: The DDRN will offer assistance to develop self help support groups at the community level for both individuals who are affected by dual disorders and for members of their families.
