Description: This center works to prevent child abuse and to help both parents and children improve the quality of family life through a wide variety of services, including counseling, parenting education, crisis intervention, and case management. These services include: New Beginnings: A parenting program for first-time parents VOCA (Victims of Crime Assistance): For children that have been victims of sexual abuse, child abuse, or witness to domestic violence. For children ages 6 - 12. The child will receive biweekly one-on-one sessions in the home, as well as sessions at the center. This program lasts for one year. CPI (Community Prevention Initiative): The worker meets with the family in the home weekly, and provides parenting and case management. The family must live in the East Jackson area. One child must be in the home and ages 0 - 12. CAP (Child Abuse Prevention): This service has both individual and group sessions, and is primarily for those wanting services or needing support. One session is for parents of children ages 0 - 12, and the other is for parents of teenagers. The Center also provides Prevention and Intervention Programs, Community Education, Volunteer Program, Kids on the Block Puppet Presentation, and a 24-hour on-call emergency support service.
