NAMI local affiliates offer:
(1.) Support--members share experiences and the importance of self-care.
(2.) Education--through professional speakers and workshops taught by family members (Journey of Hope and Visions for Tomorrow) focusing on mental illnesses, coping skills and self-care, medications, community services, problem management and self- help. Educational programs involve an atmosphere of sharing mutual experience and learning valuable lessons from one another.
(3.) Advocacy--Learning how to obtain necessary services, and promoting public policy in support of people with mental illness.
